The past couple of episodes I was talking and writing about the importance of personal growth and development. Today’s episode is a little different though. It gets a little more private and I talk about a recent health issue that appeared and how the power of magnesium helped me. In the end I share why I feel it is important to celebrate the little wins in your life.

The Importance Of Magnesium

In case you weren’t aware of it, but besides supplementing magnesium in form of tables as a supplement you can also go the transdermal route. The dietary supplementation can be a very good idea in my opinion and definitely should be a consideration  if you are very stressed or physically very active. The main reason being that magnesium is involved in the works of over 300 enzymes in our body. This includes synthesizing ATP (together with mitochondria our energy production centers). This shows that being magnesium deficient can easily disrupt many biological processes. Another, less common or known, use of magnesium is via transdermal application. Or in everyday English, rubbing magnesium oil on your skin. If you want to read more about what happened to my shoulder you can read it on my blog.

The Importance Of Little Wins

I’d like to take this opportunity to share a few thoughts about the importance of little wins. As I explained in the podcast, the issue in my shoulder wasn’t really a big thing and yet it was around for 15 years. The moment I drained it my body felt relieved and while being surprised by that I was very happy about this small change.

I could have shrugged it off but I opted to celebrate this little win. It’s a good way to be grateful for what you have. In my case I realized that I was very healthy and this little bump – even tough being somewhat aesthetically annoying – told me just that. Unfortunately it took me a long time to get rid of it and a long time to remember that I have all what I need:

  • a safe place to sleep
  • basically unlimited access to food and drink
  • a great partner at my side,
  • the possibility to enjoy doing things I like and love
  • and a healthy mind, in a healthy body

Celebrate The Little Wins

Those little wins might sound like something minor, unnoteworthy or even unimportant to you, but they are the contrary. They are what makes life great and memorable. Sure, I will probably remember my graduation to a certain extend or the day I got my driver’s licence and similar milestones in my life. Yet, those small and tiny things are what you should hunt for. They will lead to a raised state of gratefulness and happiness. The way to “see” them is by being mindful. A tool I keep coming back too often. The reason for that is easy: it’s an incredibly valuable tool, that will enrich your life.

Give it a try and look around your life for the little wins, make time for and celebrate them. I’d like to finish this article with a quote that touched me deeply. It’s from the book “Into the Wild” written by John Krakauer in which  Christopher McCandless said “happiness is only real when shared”. That was my goal in this episode and I encourage you to do the same.

Have you had any little wins lately? Did you celebrate or share them? I’d really like to hear about them. If this episode resonated with you or if you know someone that might like this content, please share it them and on social media.
